Vila Maninga provides schooling for many children
in the community and surrounding rural areas. But it also offers
vital training for the adults too.
Most adults at Vila Maninga have not had the chance to go to school
because of the war and the lack of schools in Mozambique.
Literacy and health and hygiene classes are all provided at the
community, in addition to a range of vocational training programmes
too. Skills which some adults learn range from sewing and crocheting
to building and thatching.
Some of the adults work on the farm which not only helps Vila Maninga
be self-sufficient, but also teaches much needed farming techniques.
After completion of the new primary school, the existing buildings
will be used adult literacy, and vocational training.
