Our funds

Here at Maninga, a little goes a long way. We are committed to spending as little as possible in the UK so as much as possible goes to Mozambique; because - let's face it - we do have rather alot over here, don't we?!

99% of all funds raised goes to Mozambique. Our income comes largely from charitable trusts and you (via churches, schools, businesses, individual donations, fundraising, etc). We do not receive any government funding.

At present, our monthly costs are about £2,500 (110,000 MZM - Mozambican Metacais) each month before we begin new building developments and not taking into account funding needs for secondary and tertiary education which is growing by the day....This is the monthly breakdown:

  • Groceries for children & elderly, families in need
  • Diesel for water and lights,
  • Hospital fees and medicines;
  • Wages for staff, guards and casual labour
  • Travelling costs,
  • Repair costs for buildings, school etc
  • Maintenance of vehicles and machinery on farm
  • Expenses for de Jagers who oversee and do all this work

All in all, we have to make our funds stretch very far!
