Vila Maninga Bible College began in 1996. It takes
in students from all over Mozambique for a two
year course.
The majority of students come from remote rural areas of Mozambique.
Many of the students cannot even read or write, so the course begins
with a
literacy course.
The Bible College course covers the basic teaching of the Bible
and shows how it is relevant to
our lives today.
The students live at Vila Maninga with foster families. Whilst
living and studying at Vila Maninga they and their children all
receive free food, accommodation, lessons and healthcare. The wives
also receive training in adult literacy, sewing, health and hygiene.
When not in class, students also work on the farm at Vila Maninga,
helping to support the community.
For most students who have never left their local area, attending
Vila Maninga Bible College is a
new and exciting experience.
At the end of the course, each student graduates
with a diploma from an internationally recognised
Bible Course and return to their local area, either
to set up up a new church, or work in an
existing one.
Working in church, supporting themselves and
their families is no easy task. But they graduating students are
an enormous credit to their
communites, working not only as Pastors, but also sharing their
healthcare knowledge and literacy too.
Pastors can minister to the entire community in
many ways.
